Final Episode: The Second Transition, with hannah Harrison and Phil Loring

In this last episode of The Second Transition (unless we do a second season!), I recap an amazing year of conversations with my friend and colleague, Dr. Hannah Harrison. I’ve been asking the questions all year, so I have Hannah turn the tables some to chat about what I learned from the amazing cast of guests that have joined the show.

About the Podcast

How might our strategies for solving the world’s biggest problems change if we knew that radical, system-wide change was already underway? And, how expansive and creative might our visions for the future be if we knew that we face not just one, but two major societal transitions?

The first transition is coping with the challenges we face. It is course correction: the emergency-room medicine needed to halt ongoing crises and intiate systemic change so that we can truly address issues like climate change, poverty, and biodiversity loss. The second transition is what comes next, once we’ve moved out of crisis. It is not our future, but our children’s children’s future.

In this podcast, anthropologist and award-winning science communicator Phil Loring will talk with experts, activists, and visionaries from around the world and ask, “What might a radically changed future entail? What steps can we take right now to change course and make such a future possible?”
